Yes for patients under 30 years old. However, risk for breast cancer increases with age, and mammograms may be beneficial for early cancer detection. Since we do not perform mammograms at our facility, we believe it is in your best interest to get your breast ultrasound done at a facility that is able to accommodate you for both the ultrasound and the mammogram in the possibility that you may need to also get a mammogram. The radiologist interpreting your images may prefer these two exams to be done at the same facility in order to provide you better consultation and care.

Depending on the area being imaged, you may need a full bladder for optimal results. If needed, you will be instructed to drink 32 ounces of water 1 hour before the exam and hold it in.
